ALOE VERA / Aloe barbadensis

Aloe Vera is a very common plant. Its main use is as a cosmetic, but it is also used to improve digestion. Aloe vera extract is also beneficial against diabetes. It is very good for skin also.

AJWAIN / Trachyspermum ammi

Trachyspermum ammi is traditionally believed to be digestive . In southern parts of India, dry Ajwain seeds are powdered and soaked in milk, which is then filtered and fed to babies for good digestion.

AMLA / Phyllanthus emblica

Amla is eaten raw or cooked into various dishes. In South India tender varieties are used to prepare dal (a lentil preparation), and amle ka murabbah, a sweet dish indigenous to North India (wherein the berries are soaked in sugar syrup for a long time till they are impart the sweet flavour); it is traditionally consumed after meals. In South India, the fruit is even pickled with salt, oil, and spices.

Amla is traditionally believed to nourish the hair and scalp and prevent premature of grey hair. It is also used to treat constipation, reduce fever, purify the blood, reduce cough, asthma, strengthen the heart, benefit the eyes and enhances intellect.

ARJUN / Terminalia arjuna

Arjuna has astringent property, reduces motility. Being haemostatic it controls bleeding in dysentery and haemorrhoids.

It is a good cardiac tonic as it gives strength to the cardiac muscles and improves cardiac function and rhythm. Arjuna enhances blood quality and also acts as haemostatic. 

It is effective in diabetes and gonorrhoea, by reducing urinary discharges and relieving burning and pain during maturation.

It corrects the low blood pressure and tones up the capillaries.

BRAHMI / Centella asiatica

Brahmi is beneficial as a brain tonic for chidren. It reduces stress related anxiety. It is beneficial in increasing concentration.

DALCHINI / Cinnamomum zeylanium

Cinnamon tree has antiviral properties. It improves glucose and lipids of people with type 2 diabetes. It is a good anti oxidant. It is used as a spice in South East Asia in generally all the preparations.

ELAICHI / Elettaria cardamomum

Cardamom has a strong, unique taste, with an intensely aromatic fragrance.

It is a common ingredient in Indian cooking; green cardamom powder is used as a spice for sweet dishes, as well as traditional flavouring in coffee and tea.

Cardamom is even used to neutralize the toughest breath odours.It is beneficial in congestion of the lungs and pulmonary tuberculosis, inflammation of eyelids and also digestive disorders. It also is used to break up kidney stones and gall stones.

HALDI / Curcuma longa

Turmeric is commonly used in Indian and Bangladeshi clothing for colouring purpose. As a food item it is practically used in every preparation of Indian food be it curries, dals etc. Turmeric has anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties which are beneficial for the cure of many diseases.

IMLI / Tamarindus indica

Tamarind is used in chutni`s in India. Sambhar a South Indian dish cannot be made without Tamarind. It is used in Ayurvedic medicines for gastric and digestion related problems and in cardio protective activity.

JAIFAL / Myristica fragrans

In India Nutmeg is used in many sweet as well as savoury dishes (predominantly in Mughlai cuisine). It is also added in small quantities as a medicine for infants. It may also be used in small quantities in garam masala. Nutmeg has been used in medicines in India since at least the seventh century.

JAMUN / Syzygium cumini

Jamun has a combination of sweet, mildly sour and astringent flavour and tends to colour the tongue purple. The seed is used in various alternative healing systems to control diabetes. It is even good for digestive ailments. The leaves and bark are used for controlling blood pressure and gingivitis. It has a high source in vitamin A & vitamin C.

JAVITRI / Myristica fragrans

Javitri comes from the same family of Jaifal. It is also used in Indian and Mughalai food preparations. Javitri is also very expensive just like Jaifal. According to Ayurveda, it is bitter, hot in effect, pleasant, light, good digestant, anti-kapha and anti-vata.

It helps bronchial troubles, nausea, and vomiting and heart troubles. It is used in insomnia and senile debility. Being strong and hot in nature, it has a special effect on the nervous system and thus helps in sexual inadequacies.

JEERA / Cuminum cyminum

Cumin seeds are used as a spice for their distinctive flavour and aroma. It is globally popular and an essential flavouring in many cuisines.

It reduces superficial inflammation and pain. Apart from kindling appetite, it digests food and normalizes vata in digestive system. It reduces pain experienced during indigestion, flatulence or heaviness of stomach. It purifies blood. Cumin seeds act on female reproductive system by reducing inflammation of uterus. It also increases milk production in lactating mothers.

As it normalizes vata and kapha it acts as an aphrodisiac. It is a skin friendly herb and reduces itching.

KALA NAMAK / Unaqua sodium chloride

Kala Namak is used extensively in South Asian cuisines as a condiment or added to chutneys, all kind of fruit chaat, raita and many other savoury snacks. Kala Namak is considered a cooling spice in Ayurvedic medicine and is used as a laxative and digestive. It is also believed to relieve intestinal gas and heartburn. This salt is also used to treat hysteria.

KALI MIRCH / Piper Nigrum

Kali Mirch a very common spice in South East Asia, is used in most of the food preparations. It is beneficial in Cold and Cough, Asthama, Indigestion, Liver related problems, Impotency, Toothache. It is an integral part of garam masala

KARELA / Momordica charantia

Bitter Gourd has very effective role in the treatment of Diabetes. It has anti malarial, anti cancerous properties. Bitter melon has been used in traditional medicine for several other ailments, including dysentery, colic, fevers, burns, painful menstruation and skin problems. It is also very effective in weight loss. In India particularly it is used as a vegetable in daily life.

LAHSUN / Allium sativum

Garlic is also a plant that has large number of medicinal values. It is used to lower blood pressure, LDL Cholesterol. It lowers and helps to regulate blood sugar. It helps prevent clots formation. Garlic even helps prevent cancer and can reduce size. Garlic is a natural antibiotic and kills bacteria. It has anti-fungal and viral properties. It has anti-oxidant properties.

Garlic is known to stimulate and promote healthy immune system function. It strengthens the body’s defences. It kills the organisms that cause cholera, dysentery. It is an invaluable medicine for treatment of asthma, coughs and difficulty in breathing.

METHI / Trigonella foenum graecum

Fenugreek helps in reducing med-dhatu (fatty tissue) which in turn helps in reducing weight. The leaves of fenugreek in cooked form, help in indigestion and relieve flatulence. The herb is rich in vitamins and minerals. Leaves and seeds contain calcium, phosphorus, few vitamins from B-complex group in addition to vitamin C. It is also rich source of iron. Both leaves and seeds should be included in normal diet of family, especially diet of growing kids, pregnant ladies, puberty reaching girls and elder members of family because it has haematinic (i.e. blood formation) value. Fenugreek has mild laxative property which also helps in cleaning ama (toxins) chocked in body systems thus helping restoration from illness. Ayurveda has recommended use of fenugreek in promoting lactation in breast feeding mothers. It has also shown results in controlling diabetes.

MULETHI / Glycyrrhiza glabra

Mulethi is used in Ayurveda in the treatment of respiratory and digestive disorders. Mulethi's use is specifically indicated in the treatment of chronic acidity, ulcers and chronic bronchial conditions. Investigations observed that Mulethi activates ulcer healing. It even acts as an anti-stress and anabolic agent. Mulethi with Honey is very effective remedy in dry cough. Mulethi powder mixed with jaggery {GUR} and water is also used as a laxative in constipation.

NEEM / Azadirachta indica

In India, the plant is known as "Heal All," "Nature's Drugstore," "Village Pharmacy". Products made from neem trees have been used in India for over two millennia for their medicinal properties. Neem products are believed to be antifungal, anti diabetic, antibacterial, antiviral, contraceptive and sedative. It is considered a major component in Ayurvedic and Unani medicine and is particularly prescribed for skin disease.

PIPPALI / Piper longum

In Ayurvedic texts pippali is referred as one of the most powerful Rasayana herb. In India Sub continent it is used as a spice in homes. The fruits and the roots are attributed with numerous medicinal uses and may be used for diseases of respiratory tract like cough, bronchitis, asthma etc. Pippali is used as a general tonic. It is beneficial in dysentery and leprosy also.

PODINA / Mentha spicata

Podina is used in generally every Indian kitchen as a spice. Podina is used as an expectorant. The plant is highly effective in treating headaches, rhinitis, and cough, sore throat, colic and vomiting. It serves as a good blood cleanser, since it is antiseptic and anti-bacterial. Podina plays a significant role in alleviating swollen gums, mouth ulcers and toothaches. Crushed and bruised pudina leaves are used in treating insect bites. The decoction and infusion of its leaves and stems helps in fever, stomach aches.

SENDHA NAMAK / Sodll chloridum

A basic necessity of every human being round the globe. Salt is useful as a digestive aid and to relieve from heartburn. It is also a laxative.

SHANKHPUSHPI / Convolvulus pluricaulis

Shankhpushpi is used traditionally to treat nervous debility, insomnia, fatigue, low energy level. Shankhpushpi is used as a brain tonic. The herb induces a feeling of calm and peace, good sleep and a relief in anxiety, stress, and mental fatigue. The herb is non-toxic and its use does not produce any side effects.

SHIKAKAI / Acacia concinna

Shikakai is a traditional shampoo used in India. It`s foaming properties help in washing of hair. A large number of Herbal Products manufacturers use it as a shampoo base along with other ingredients.

SAUNF / Foeniculum vulgare

It is used globally as a spice and also as an ingredient for food preparation. Fennel may be an effective diuretic and a potential drug for treatment of hypertension. Saunf is very good purgative and is also used in cough cure. It is good for eye sight and is beneficial for new born babies for colic pain.

SUNTH / Zingiber Officinale

It is a good digestant, appetizer, antipoisonous. It is used for abdominal pain, heart diseases, indigestion, arthritis, bleeding, cancer, chest congestion, chicken pox, cholera, chronic bronchitis, cold extremities, colic, colitis, common cold, cough, diarrhoea, difficulty in breathing, fever, hyperacidity, In addition to these medicinal uses, ginger continues to be valued around the world as an important cooking spice and is believed to help the common cold, flu-like symptoms, headaches, and even painful menstrual periods.

TEJ PATRA / Cinnamomum tamala

It is commonly used as a spice in India Sub continent. The leaves are highly effective in the treatment of diabetes, migraine and gastric ulcers. They are quite beneficial in case of bacterial and fungal infections. Bay leaves are frequently used in aromatherapy due to its aromatic properties. Bay leaf is also used in the treatment of rheumatism and colic. They maintain the sugar level of the blood. They improve the immune system of the body and thus act as an anti-viral agent.

Tej patta is a rich source of copper, potassium, calcium, manganese, iron, zinc and magnesium and thus helps in maintaining the pulse rate and blood pressure. The essential oils extracted from tej patta are quite effective in the treatment of bronchitis and flu. This is also effective in treating paralysis and abdominal pain. The fruits are useful in case of abnormal vaginal discharge. Sore throat and diarrhea can also be treated by bay leaf.

TRIFALA / Combination of Harar, Bahera, Amla

Trifala is one of the very common medications used throughout India. It is useful in curing stomach problems, liver disorders, obesity and gout. It is also a good nervine tonic.

TULSI / Ocimum sanctum

Holy Basil is a very Holy plant of India. It has a very good therapeutic use to cure common cold and cough. It is very useful in treating skin disorders, mouth infections and stress. Tulsi Leaves are also beneficial in reducing cholesterol level.

ASHWAGANDHA / Withania somnifera

It is a good nervine tonic and sedative, it helps in atomic nerves, fainting, giddiness and insomnia.

It is diuretic and is used in oliguria. It is used to strengthen meda dhatu.

It is also a good aphrosisiac. It is beneficial in semen disorders and leucorrhoea caused due to endometritis.

ASHOK / Saraca asoca

The ashoka is prized for its beautiful foliage and fragrant flowers. It is a handsome, small, erect evergreen tree, with deep green leaves growing in dense clusters. It is beneficial in female problems in general.

VIJAYSAR / Pterocarpus marsupium - Leguminosae

Vijaysar is safe and cheap method to take care of Diabetics, weight control and reduce joints pain.

GUDMAAR / Gymnema sylvestre

It is beneficial in Diabetes, Weight Loss, Stimulates Digestion and is also a good Laxative.

GUDUCHI / Tinospora cordifolia

Guduchi or Amrita or Giloy is beneficial in enhansing immune system, Gout and Rheumatic Disorders, Arthritis and Inflamation.

SAFED MUSLI / Chlorophytum Borivilianum

Safed Musli is a potent aphrodisiac and string adaptogenic herb used in ayurveda and herbal science. It is effective for improving male performance, inducing spermatogenesis and providing strength to the muscles.

DUDHAL / Taraxacum officinale

Dandelion is a good remedy for kidney and liver disorders, it is even a mild laxative and stimulates digestion. The roots have Taraxacin, Acrystalline, Vitamin A and C. It is even a good blood purifier and increases lactation.

AGNIMANTH / Premna integrifolia Linn

It has effects on kapha, meda and UT.It is beneficial in Skin disorders. The juice of the leaves in a dose of 15 ml thrice a dayis beneficial in urticaria. It is a good blood purifier also.

Agnimanth has good laxative properties and beneficial in ama dosha and constipation.

APAMARG / Achyranthes aspera Linn.

It is beneficial in emesis, loss of appetite, andominal pain,piles. It has anti inflammatory properties and is a good blood purifier.It is useful for rheumatoid arthritis, oedema and scrofula.

Apamarg root powder is beneficial in bronchitis and asthama as decongestant.

It is a good diuretic and reduces acidic pH of urine.



SHIGRU / Moringa pterygosperma

Shigru improves appetite, is digestive, vidahi, grahi, analgesic, antibacterial and deworming agent. Due to its ushna guna it acts as a stimulant to heart. It is even beneficial for the kidney and increases urine output.

It is beneficial in Eye disorder produced by kapha.


SHATAVARI / Asparagus racemosus

Shatavari is beneficial in epilepsy, syncope and vata disorders. It is a foetal tonic, galactagogue and aphrodisiac.

It is useful in general body debility and as a mansamedogami and muscle strength.Shatavari being diuretic in natureis used in dysuria.


BHARANGI / Clerodendrum serratum Linn.

Bharangi is useful in anorexia as it is a good appetizer, digestant and laxative. 

It is snigdha and madhur, so it acts as an expectorant.Thus it is useful in cough and hoarseness of voice.

In amenorrhoea, Bharangi powder is used along with decoction of sesame seeds.

BHRINGRAJA / Eclipta alba

Bhringraj promotes Healthy Hair and it is even used as a hair dye.

It is useful in the treatment of various vata related disorders.

It works well on the liver and spleen as it improves the bilious flow. 

It promotes immunity and has rejuvenating action in anemia and lipid disorders. 

CHANDAN / Santalum album Linn.

Chandan is beneficial in mental debility, brain impairment. Sandalwood is a good cardio tonic by sheeta property. It alleviates haemorrhagic disorders.

It is useful in dematoses and pruitus. The paste of the wood is applied over burning area and pruritus caused due to eczema. It is even beneficial in menorrhagia, leucorrhoea and shukrameha.

ERAND / Ricinus communis

Erand alleviates vata, swelling and pain, therfore it is used in condition like backache, sciatica, chest pain, rheumatic pain etc. Warm Leaves or oil is locally applied.It is kaphaghna by its ushna and tikshna property, therefore it is useful in bronchitis and asthama with predominance of kapha.

It is good for Rheumatic Arthritis. In skin diseases it is given for shodhan.


GUGGULU / Commiphora mukul

Anti inflammatory, analgesic, anti bacterial in nature.

It is a popular herb for vata related disorders. Guggulu is useful in loss of appetite, constipation, liver problems, piles and internal worms.

It is a good cardio tonic, It increases haemoglobin and leucocyte count and enhances blood quality.

BAEL PHAL / Aegle marmelos

Unripe Bael fruit is an appetizer, digestant and astringent. The ripe fruit is a mild laxative.

It is kaphashamal hence used in cold cough and dyspnoea.

Its leaves are beneficial in reducing blood sugar

GOKSHURA / Tribulus terrestris

It is a good diuretic, dissolves calculi and amorphous calculi.

It is useful in debility, impotency, post natal discharge.
